In 2012 McLaren Special Vehicle Operations built 10 special edition cars called the High Sport or MP4-12C HS. 4 were built for the US market; the other 6 were commissioned for Europe and Asia. Under a Special contract between McLaren Automotive and the hand-picked selected owners (Soccer Star Cristiano Ronaldo owns Chassis #7); Only 10 examples of the High Sport were to be produced and sold, making them extremely rare and collectible. No official unveilings were ever done. The main feature of these bespoke cars is a revised body and more power over the standard model (675-680 HP) the exact number has not been confirmed. Changes to the HS from the standard MP4-12C include Lower suspension, a carbon-fiber high down force rear diffuser, and a modified active rear wing. The HS also has lightweight wheels with HS style polished spokes and carbon engine cover vents. The front was redesigned with acarbon nose to maximize down force and increase airflow to the turbo intercoolers therefore resulting in higher boost pressure and increase in power output. Both Front and rear bumpers are inspired by the GT3 race car. This includes side air extractors and louvers on the top of the front fenders.
