1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Landau for Sale in McKinney, TX 75072 This Thunderbird is powered by a 390cc engine paired with a c-6 3 Speed transmission. Shown with a Beige Exterior and Matching Interior. Garage Kept and Smoke Free Owners Overview This is a 1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Landau that I purchased off eBay in July 2015 when it has just over 23,000 (believed to be) original miles. The story I got from the seller was that it was an estate sale car that the surviving family members inherited. Apparently, it was purchased for the mom when new. Based on the license plate tag that was still on the car when he purchased it and based on extant oil change stickers in the driver's side door jamb the car appears to have been taken off of the road in the early 1970's for unknown reasons, it sat in covered storage for years. There does not appear to be any rust or body rot that I can find. There are some dents and dings and surface rust as shown in the pics - the most noticeable being on the rear quarter panels. It appears the car may have received undercoating when new. I cannot say whether the paint is original or not. The paint appears to be a little thin only on the driver side door and you can see bits of what appear to be factory red oxide primer beneath. Since I have owned the car, I have done a lot of maintenance such as springs, shocks, various suspension components. I added a Gear Vendors Overdrive which is mated behind the stock C-6 3 speed transmission and it definitely makes driving the car more enjoyable at highway speeds. The engine probably needs a rebuild as it does smoke upon startup, and it does burn some oil. It develops a ticking noise once warmed up. I cannot be certain that the engine is original to the car as it is not painted the correct 1966 Ford blue color. For reliability, I added a Ford Duraspark distributor and control module to eliminate the OEM points. The original distributor is included. The OEM carb was professionally rebuilt. It has a Power Bastards 200 amp alternator. This car was highly optioned from Ford when ordered and appears to have just about every desirable option for 1966 with the exception of the 428 or Highway Pilot cruise control. It does have power windows, power driver and passenger seats, reclining passenger seat, and remote trunk release. It does have factory A/C but is currently inoperable. It does have a correct rebuilt York OEM compressor, which is installed. I reached out to Kevin Marti and I have a copy of the FOMOCO gate release for this car as well as a copy of the window sticker. The car comes with a bunch of new, never installed OEM reproduction items such as some rubber, driver and passenger side outside mirror, and some other miscellaneous stuff. I have a large folder with all documentation that I received when I bought the car, plus all receipts for work done during my ownership. I even have the flash drive that the prior owner gave me showing the car being pulled out of hibernation when he bought it back around 2013. I am selling the car as I no longer have the means to get it "perfect" or at least as perfect as I would like it to be.
